Hmong inspired beaded bracelets

When I first started beading I started with simple stringing. Then as I got better I tried more complicated projects like bead weaving and bead stitching.

My mother used to make me and my sisters sit down and do Hmong embroidery when we were little. She had a Hmong skirt that she was trying to finish and we helped her stitch a part of it. I remember the fabric roll was rolled up and appeared so long. The pattern was really intricate and I could not sit still long enough to do it so I was never really good at it! I don't know how the Hmong women had time for it back in the old country between cooking, farming and raising the kids!

I wanted to make a Hmong pattern inspired bracelet on my bead weaving loom. I used 3mm Japanese cube beads. The colors in real life are just so pretty and vibrant! I love Japanese beads. I once tried making one of these using the square stictch and it took forever! Thank goodness for the bead loom!
